MPI is currently seeking a permanent Medical & Dental Service Technician to be based in Aldershot, Hampshire. The role offers a salary of £29,455 per year.

The main purpose of the job is to inspect, install, service, and repair various types of medical, dental, and veterinary equipment for air, land, and maritime settings. The majority of the work will be carried out at customer sites.

The responsibilities of the job include planning and carrying out scheduled equipment servicing and inspections, as well as unscheduled servicing, repairs, and tests. The technician will also be responsible for managing and coordinating manpower and resources to meet targets and reduce equipment downtime. They will need to make on-the-spot engineering decisions regarding equipment safety and act as a Subject Matter Expert on equipment care and maintenance. Additionally, the technician will be required to act as a Radiation Protection Supervisor and keep up to date with equipment servicing requirements.

The technician will use the in-house medical and dental management database to plan work schedules, maintain equipment histories, and order necessary spares. They will also be responsible for raising and controlling maintenance and performance records, maintaining test equipment calibration, and administering repair contracts. Other responsibilities include maintaining office consumables and PPE, managing COSHH and risk assessments, and overseeing the maintenance of leased vehicles. The technician may also need to act as a storekeeper for spares and administer equipment repairs with OEMs.

Training and mentoring of new starters and apprentices may be required, and for remote MDSS locations, additional responsibilities include arranging building maintenance and off-site equipment repairs. Compliance with local radiation rules is also essential.

The technician should have accredited qualifications in electrical or electronic engineering and have completed relevant training courses. They should have the ability to process information, read technical documentation, and communicate effectively with customers. The job requires a high level of intellectual demands due to the range of equipment worked on and the need for troubleshooting skills. Flexibility and adaptability are important due to changing schedules and environments.

Excellent communication skills are necessary as the technician will be required to communicate with various individuals and organizations. The role also involves physical demands such as driving, manual handling, and movement of equipment. The work environment is often clinical in nature and infection risks need to be managed.

Required education and experience includes an accredited background in electrical or electronic engineering and a full UK/EU driving license. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also necessary.
