Job Description
Kennedys is currently seeking a Government Affairs and Policy Advisor to join our Corporate Affairs team. This role will focus on shaping the policy and regulatory environment for the insurance industry and related sectors such as Life Sciences, Healthcare, Transport, and Construction. We are looking for an experienced candidate who can take our government affairs efforts to the next level. You will play a critical role in developing and influencing government and regulatory policy, with the objective of establishing Kennedys as the top partner for industry in the policymaker ecosystem. You will ensure that Kennedys stays up to date with relevant policy and regulatory developments in the insurance space. While the main focus will be on the UK, knowledge of the policy landscape in other jurisdictions, including the EU, is also important. Your insights will help client-facing teams provide the most accurate and up-to-date advice to our clients. You will work closely with the Corporate Affairs team to provide insight-led and action-oriented advice for corporate clients, particularly in priority themes such as climate, AI technology and innovation, ESG, and dispute resolution. Our goal is to build trusted relationships with policymakers and regulators at the national and international level, advocating for ground-breaking interventions using data, insights, and our expertise. As a key strategic advisor, you will work closely with our Director of Corporate Affairs and other members of the leadership team to establish Kennedys as a respected international legal authority with a deep understanding of policy issues.
Our Corporate Affairs team comprises professionals from law, business, academia, and government. They work with our lawyers to build stronger relationships with clients and stakeholders, providing leadership and advice on business critical issues. The team analyzes emerging business risks, as well as the impact of legal and political shifts on the international business environment. They create market reports for clients and engage with government, regulators, and industry bodies on topics such as sustainability, diversity and inclusion, dispute resolution, disruptive technologies, and data privacy. The team is based in London but is expected to expand to other regions within the Kennedys network.
Key responsibilities of the role include leading the development and execution of Kennedys' public policy engagement strategy, analyzing the impact of regulatory change, defining policy positions, representing Kennedys at stakeholder meetings, delivering regulatory and policy documents, providing external environment briefings, and developing Kennedys' external presence and connectivity. You will also be responsible for managing relationships with public affairs agencies and partners.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of policymaking and the insurance industry, at least 6 years of related experience, and a proven track record in developing public affairs campaigns and policy positions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at various levels are also essential. The role requires a proactive attitude and strong organizational skills.
